MyChart FAQs


What is MyChart?

MyChart is a convenient, secure way for you to view your test results and health information online. You can also request appointments and prescription refills, communicate with your doctor, pay your bill and much more! With MyChart, you have one online resource where you can easily see your health information for care received at any Bryan Health location. This includes Bryan Medical Center, Crete Area Medical Center, Bryan Heart, Bryan Physician Network offices and Crete Area Medical Center physician offices.

With MyChart, you can manage your health any time of day, from anywhere using your computer, tablet or an app on your phone. Here are some of the many ways you can use MyChart to make your life easier:

  • View test results and health information
  • Set up and manage appointments (schedule, confirm, cancel and review details of upcoming visits)
  • Request prescription refills
  • Email your doctor, or any member of your Bryan Health care team
  • Access trusted health information resources
  • Manage your family’s health (yourself, your kids, etc.)
  • Complete information for upcoming appointments
  • Update information
  • Pay bills
  • Receive alerts when test results are available and about recommended health exams


Is there a fee to use MyChart?

No. MyChart is a free service offered to Bryan Health patients.


How do I sign up for MyChart?

You can sign up anytime at, or we will provide information to you when you receive care at any Bryan Health location. Sign up is easy. Just answer a few questions and you’ll receive an activation code. Use your activation code to set up your username and password for your MyChart account.


Can you send me a new MyChart activation code? I have lost it, let it expire or did not receive one.

Email us at or call us at 1-844-628-0303. After we verify your information, a new code will be sent via email to the address we have on file for you.


When can I see my test results in MyChart?

In most cases, your test results will be available in your MyChart account immediately once your test is finalized or within 1-3 days. There are some results that due to the sensitive nature of the test may not be placed in MyChart or may be delayed in being placed in MyChart.


Why are certain test results not shared in MyChart?

For the most part, this may happen with genetic testing where your doctor may want to visit with you about the results and the release of the information. In these cases, some results may be delayed in going into your MyChart account or may not be placed in MyChart. Your doctor will visit with you about this.


If some of my health information on MyChart is not correct, what should I do?

The information that you see on MyChart comes directly from your electronic health record at Bryan Health. Your health information is reviewed and updated in your electronic health record at each visit. If you see information that is not correct, you can send a secure message to our medical records department by logging into your MyChart account, clicking on the “Ask a Question” quick link located on the right hand side of the screen and clicking the “Customer Service Question” button. Enter a subject in the subject line of the message, select “Request Correction to Medical Record” from the drop down menu and type your message in the text box. Or tell your provider on your next visit.


If I send a message to my doctor or nurse through MyChart, when can I expect a reply?

You will generally receive an answer within 1-3 business days. Please do not use MyChart for urgent situations. If your situation requires immediate medical attention, go to the nearest emergency department or dial 911.


Can I view a family member's health record in MyChart?

Yes. Access to another person’s health record is called Proxy access. Proxy access allows a parent (or legal guardian) to log into their personal MyChart account, and then connect to information about their family member. Before proxy access can be granted, a Proxy Consent Form will need to be completed, signed and returned to one of our facilities. Adult patients can also give permission for another adult to have proxy access to their health information; such as in the case of an adult child caring for their parent or a person who is the care giver for their spouse.


I used to see more of my child’s information when logging into my MyChart account.  What happened?

When a child turns 13 years old, your proxy access to their information is automatically changed. You can still see some information, but can no longer see all of your child’s information. This is to remain in compliance with Nebraska state law.


I no longer see my child’s information when I log into my MyChart account.  What happened?

When your child turns 19 years old, he/she is an adult under Nebraska law.  This means that your proxy access to his/her information automatically ends. This is to remain in compliance with state and federal laws. To gain access to your adult child’s information, you and your adult child will need to complete and sign a proxy access form.


Can I ask questions about a family member’s health from my MyChart account?

No. MyChart offers direct access to your personal health record. If you communicate about another individual through your MyChart account, that information would then be placed into your own health record. This could potentially jeopardize the care you receive. If you would like to ask questions about a family member’s health through MyChart, you will need to submit a request for proxy access and ask the question through that family member’s MyChart account.


Can my spouse and I share one MyChart account?

No. Since the information in MyChart is directly tied to your electronic health record, each patient will need to establish his/her own MyChart account.


Can my child have their own MyChart account?

Yes. Children between the ages of 13 and 19 can have their own MyChart account.  To set up an account for a child, the parent or legal guardian just needs to compete and sign a Portal consent form. 


I forgot my password. What should I do?

From the MyChart sign in page, click the "Forgot password?" link. Then enter your MyChart Username, the last four digits of your Social Security Number, your date of birth and answer the security question to reset your password online. If you are still unable to change your password after following these steps, contact our MyChart Service Desk at 1-844-628-0303 to request a new, secure password.


Where can I update my personal information in MyChart (e.g. home address, email address, phone number)?

Log into your MyChart account. Click on the “Health” icon at the top of the screen. Select “Demographics” from the drop down menu. Make necessary changes to your address, phone numbers, preferred phone number and email address. After completing all needed changes, click on the “Accept Changes” button to save your changes.


Where can I change my MyChart password?

Log into your MyChart account. Click on the “Settings” icon at the top of the screen. Select “Security Settings” from the drop down menu. Enter your current password, enter your new password and confirm your new password. Click the “Save Password” button to save your changes.

How is MyChart secure?

We take great care to ensure your health information is kept private and secure. Access to information is controlled through secure activation codes, personal usernames and passwords. Each person controls their own password, and the account cannot be accessed without that password. Unlike conventional email, MyChart messaging can only be done while you are securely logged into your MyChart account. No information crosses over the internet.


What is your MyChart Privacy Policy?

MyChart is owned and operated by MyChart and is fully compliant with federal and state laws pertaining to your privacy. Your name and email address will be treated with the same care and privacy given to your health records and will never be sold or leased by MyChart.


I was logged out of MyChart. What happened?

We aim to protect your privacy and the security of your information. While logged into MyChart, if your keyboard remains idle for 15 minutes or more, you will be automatically logged out of MyChart. If you need to leave your computer for any reason, we recommend that you log out of your MyChart session.


What do I need to use MyChart?

You need access to a computer connected to the Internet and an up-to-date browser such as: Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox or Safari.


My activation code does not work, what should I do?

For your security, your activation code will expire after 30 days and is no longer valid after the first time you use it. If your activation code is not working, you may email us at or call our MyChart Service Desk at 1-844-628-0303.
